Winter 2023 Newsletter

California Rain

Dear Friends,

Winter is blustery and dramatic this year with welcomed wetness. My two teens and I hunker down, make fires, play board games, and study. I prepare for a Winter and Spring of composing, recording, and the shaping of new work.

FROM QUARRY to LANDFILL to AUDIUM

I am delighted to announce that I recently received a commission from the Audium in San Francisco. The Audium is a historic sound Theater that has been presenting multichannel audio works in its unique space for over 50 years. I will be creating an evening-length experience for them, pairing the Quarry work with a second section based on the Landfill which I am now beginning work on. A video installation work by my dear friend Catherine Hollander will also be featured. I am super excited, and have a lot of work ahead of me. This will premier in September 2023.

TWO SUPPORTIVE POETS
Maya Khosla and Elizabeth Herron

Here, I wish to thank two Sonoma County poets for their contributions and encouragement of my Quarry piece. They are both brilliant, and are making important work relating to wildlife, ecosystems, and the life of the planet.

THE NOTHING SHOW

This show is about so very many things. Here, you can gaze at the incredible thoughts of Nils Frykdahl whom I (and many others) have long admired. This new show is really a treat. I'll let Nils explain...
